HYMNFEST started in the year 2000 by a group of musically minded people from local districts from the Anglican Uniting and Catholic Churches.
After having a very successful Ecumencial service for the 125th Birthday celebrations of Loch Village where a 30 minute programme of community singing took place before the service, Hymnfest was born
The very successful programme is run entirely by volunteers and all Guest's Artist's who give of there musical talents to entertain during the programme do so voluntarily.
Each year the programme varies in theme and content and we introduce to the wider Gippsland and Melbournne communities locally talented artist's from the South Gippsland area, whilst this is part of the programme, the Community singing and bringing people together to sing together is the Committees main objective, we like to encourage those in the community who do not attend a place of worship but enjoy singing songs and Hymns that they remember, then during our afternoon tea at the close of Hymnfest meet and greet with old and new friends.
All monies raised donated will be distributed to the local Churches or a Charity of our choosing.
We have an Ecumenical choir which lead the community singing component of the programme and also take part , we meet 5 weeks prior to Hymnfest for rehearsal and we encourage anyone in the districts or further afield surrounding Loch Village to come and join us in the choir for this wonderful annual event.
