Funding for this website was made possible through the Poowong Football & Netball Club and the Strzelecki Lion's Club's joint My Connected Community initiative, which was run in partnership with and managed by the South Gippsland Development Committee Inc.

In July 2006 the Strzelecki Lions Club was successful in receiving a grant from the State Government to create and train 20 non-profit community groups in using the Internet and the My Connected Community (MC2) website. This project was given to the Poowong Football & Netball Clubs to manage and run. At the same time the South Gippsland Development Committee Inc. were planning on launching their own community website creation project, and thus a partnership between the Poowong Football & Netball Club's MC2 project and the South Gippsland Development Committee's community website program was created.

On the 11th November,2007 the Loch Website was officially launched at the Strzelecki Lions Market.

Members of the Loch Community Development Associations(LCDA)  "Website Development team" were on hand to demonstrate the features of the website to passersby via a laptop demonstration and to hand out information & free fridge magnets.

Steve Hickmott, Amanda Dinger, Bev Button & Len Mcgrath have all worked together over many months with the assistance of Callum Forbes from Forbes Technology to put the Loch website together for your enjoyment.

Mousemats advertising the website have also been produced. The mousemats feature an extended version of the photo from Foons phtography in Wonthaggi, that you see at the top of this website, featuring the rolling green hills that are symbolic of Loch & district.

The CFA and DSE have introduced Fire Restrictions (Fire Danger Period & Prohibited Period respectively) for all private land within the municipalities listed below.  The Fire Restiriciton Period will commence at 0100 hours on the 17th December 2007 and unless varied by a subsequent declaration, will end at 0100 hours on 1st May 2008.

• Latrobe City
• South Gippsland Shire
• Wellington Shire

Certain restrictions on the lighting of fires are in force during the Fire Restriction Period.  Information about fire restrictions within the Country Area of Victoria can be obtained from your local CFA Regoinal Office or Municipal Fire Prevention Officer.

Information about fire restrictions within the Fire Protected Area can be obtained from your local DSE Fire District Officer.
