The Loch Memorial Reserve Committee was founded way back in the early 1900's and was incorporated in 1985. It is a wholly voluntary committee whose members act as trustees of the Reserve, on behalf of the Loch community. The committee act as landlords to two major tenants who hire the Reserve each year, the Poowong-Loch Cricket club & the Loch Tennis club.
The Reserve committee consists of under a dozen passionate volunteers who work to maintain and improve facilities, for all to enjoy. They also aim to preserve the memorials at the Reserve which honour local soldiers who fought in World War 1 & 2 and to whom the Reserve is dedicated. There are memorial gates honouring World War 1 soldiers, Oak trees & plaques recognising 14 World War 2 soldiers, a pine tree from the Lone Pine at Gallipoli and a wooden soldier sculpture, standing as a sentinel at the pedestrian bridge entrance to the Reserve.
Reserve committee meetings are held in the clubrooms @7.30pm on the 4th Wed of the month and the AGM is held in Nov. New attendees are always welcome.
The main entrance gates to the Reserve are found on the Loch-Poowong Rd. The Reserve may also be accessed on foot from the Loch township side via a spectacular pedestrian suspension bridge which spans the Allsop Creek. At certain times of the year(after plenty of rain!) a waterfall can be viewed from the bridge looking up the creek to the historic Loch swimming hole.
